Imagine if you will a spacious, white walled gallery with polished wood floors. Now, we just need the art… A knitted cupcake? Got it. A felt Egg McMuffin? Yep. Some crocheted sushi? You betcha! Claes Oldenburg had it all figured out years ago as far as I’m concerned. I love these soft sculptures, but I would love them even more if they were huge à la Claes. Seriously, who wouldn’t want a giant tweed ice cream cone in their private collection? Anyway, clearly I’m not alone in my obsession with this cozy comfort food. There are thousands of these little goodies to be had at every arts & crafts show across the country, not to mention the overwhelming amount of them on Etsy. Granted, some of them are not good. Really, really not good. But some of them are amazing. The amount of work that goes into each hand-crafted donut or cob of corn truly baffles the mind. Enjoy, and Bon Appetit!
