i’m jealous of crystal liu

It was the combination of tiny pebbles and floral patterns that brought on the first pang of jealousy… and then I found those soft, gray, drippy rain clouds. Sigh. These mixed media drawings are a combination of conté, marker, ink, watercolour, and collage all lovingly applied to paper by Crystal Liu, a Canadian artist now based in San Francisco. She has so much work to choose from in her vast portfolio, but I managed to control myself and only show these four images. Those sad, washy clouds that I love so much are from a series titled remember when we used to dream, and the pebbles/pattern are part of a collection called the ground shook for him. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m suddenly in the mood for a long walk in the rain.
