Oh my word. I wish so much that I lived in Bethnal Green, east London, so that I could pop into this newly transformed cornershop! Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING {even the cash register!} is made of felt! British artist Lucy Sparrow has taken a rundown storefront, and turned it into a completely stocked “felt” market {just under 4000 items!}… felt chips, felt beer, felt magazines, felt canned ravioli, felt candy, felt ketchup, felt popsicles… ok, I’m sure you get it, but it’s all just so awesome, I feel like I should make a little grocery list! Speaking of awesome, this quote by Lucy is just about perfect:
“I’m very obsessive and I want that to come across in the work and get people thinking ‘Who would be crazy enough to do this?'”
Yep. We’re all thinkin’ it! This crazy little shop is open for business until August 31… GO!!!!!! ps. if you aren’t in London, you can also visit her online shop!
{Open every day from 10am – 7pm : 19 Wellington Row, London : via The MIRROR}
I wish I could visit London this month, for this alone, and I do like it there. I love that Lucy created such a crazy abundance of felted goods! great pics. At least I can buy something from the online shop 🙂
perfection!
So cool – and, yes – crazy!
this is so super cool 🙂
WOW!! this is insane. Also – nothing in her shop ever spoils or reaches a sell-by-date YAY

This is awesome! Question- did she personally make the thousands of items? How long was the lead time? Please don’t tell me these felt items were commissioned and made in China- that would ruin it! That would change it from a work of art, into someone artsy having a cool idea, time to indulge the idea, and a bankroll. Please, PLEASE tell me she made this installation, not only project-managed it.
KOL – nope, nothing made in china… everything made by lucy. here’s a little blurb from her site: “Every single thing inside the Cornershop – the till, the functioning pricing gun, the contents of freezers, the pick ‘n’ mix stand – is fashioned from fabric, and the whole lot took Lucy seven months to complete.”
OK, I checked out her kickstart page- she made every item herself! This is truly quite an achievement. BRAVO!!!
