Art… that you walk on!

Last week I wrote about gorgeous hand-painted geodes, and someone said they looked like “suminagashi”. Obviously I ended up going down a research rabbit hole, which ended up reminding me I’d written about a Danish artist, years ago, who did something similar… enter the work of Copenhagen based artist and designer Pernille Snedker Hansen, aka Snedker Studio. In 2011 I wrote about her paper pieces that hang on walls, but today… today is all about these immersive works of art on the floor!

In collaboration with natural phenomenon and inspired by traditional craft techniques, Pernille Snedker Hansen transform interiors into immersive artworks.

A culmination of years of experimentation and development, Pernille has re-purposed the traditional craft of marbling. She works directly with its fluid nature to enhance material and create form. Created one drop at the time and resembling a tree growth rings, Pernilles technique responds to naturally occurring patterns. Beautiful.
