amanda senneby
Rich, colorful gouache and portraits of women… two of my most favorite things! Speaking of “two”, how fabulous are these two-faced ladies by Stockholm based artist/illustrator Amanda Senneby?! I want all 3 of them… or 6 of them? Anywho, this series is titled “You & You” – here is Amanda’s statement:
[These are] portraits of unknown women. Women are often portrayed in a specific way, passive and simple. I wanted to show the diversity of a person, we are often more than what shows.

Love the artist’s expression of “the diversity of a person.” The second one is my fave.
Nice portraits, but surely the mirroring is done digitally, no? Not that this is a bad thing, I work mostly digital myself, but as you don’t mention it, I would like to know.
not sure, as she doesn’t mention it either. could be digital i suppose.
They kind of remind me of Yin and Yang, or being stuck in duality or even playing cards.
I don’t think the mirroring is done digitally. But that’s just my guess.
The colours are a close invert to each other but not the exact opposite.
So clever, looove them. And I guess you could turn the picture around when you want a different perspective.
