I wrote about Vancouver-based artist Sarah Gee, and her paper-cut circles, last year… but when I saw her newly invented “drawing machine”, I just had to write again! She’s taking perfect circles to a whole new level using a drawing machine that she built herself, out of various household appliances… um, can you say genius?! Here, watch this… and I dare you not to fall into a meditative trance:
Ahhh, I’m so relaxed/totally in awe of Sarah’s hand control! Wow. Here are some of the results from this amazing machine {and it’s amazing master!}
Seriously. I sooo want to try this! However, for now I think I’ll just buy one. The original drawings {ink and/or graphite}, which are really, really big {22″x30″ on Stonehenge paper} are only $150. What?! Yep, it’s true. Visit Sarah’s site to pick one {ps. there’s more being photographed as we speak}, and then just email her to arrange which gorgeous, colorful, mesmerizing circle you want for your wall… but I call dibs on this one ♥
SO cool! I’m already devising how to build something like that myself! Or I could just leave that up to Sarah 🙂 xo
Amazing, would love them at gudrun.
yes they would! i just saw them in person the other day… they’re stunning!
I’ve seen these in person too. They may just be my favourite works by Sarah.
LOVE how the circle develops and becomes the most ‘stable’ part of the film. Blissful!
isn’t it relaxing? and i’ve seen these drawings in person – they are soooo good!
Oh my! These are mesmerizingly beautiful…

I loved the video. What a fun piece of equipment to have and work with — it would be hard to stop once you start.
she’s going to let me try it!!! i should record that… sarah makes it look easy, but i’m sure mine will be a spinning mess! ; )

nice. i was doing this in high school on a potter’s wheel.
I really like the jealous curator website. Inspirational thoughts! Cool stuff!!
I would like to make you aware that Sarah gee is not the only artist making these type of drawings. Renown Israeli artist Gabriel Klasmer made beautiful graphite circle drawings in the 90’s. Check his work: http://gabrielklasmer.com/gabrielklasmer/f1.html
As per the comment above the first thing that came to mind was she is a ‘potter with a pen’. What a wonderful way to work and beautiful work too:-)
Love it x Eilish
i love that! “potter with a pen” – perfect! ; )
