i’m jealous of martha rich’s cake

martha_rich_cake

I have written about Martha Rich so many times… I’m sorry, but I can’t control myself! When I paint in my sketchbook, I think of her sketchbook. When I try new colour combos, I think of her colour combos. When I am in the mood for cake, I think of her cake. For several possible reasons, {hunger, low blood sugar levels, the need for inspiration in the form of thick pink icing} I spent the entire day thinking about Martha’s cakes ~ so here they are. Now you can think about them too. Mmmm, cake.

{Coincidentally enough, she has a new site called cakeandlobster.com… hm, maybe my next ‘I Martha Rich’ post will be about lobster?}

    I love these paintings/sketches – I’m jealous, too! There is something very appealing about frosting for me, and I use it in my work as well. Maybe it’s the reference to celebration and/or comfort food?

    Thank you.

    I think you’re right. Very comforting… and for me, a lot of childhood memories. Icing was always the most important part of every birthday cake!

    Yes, especially birthdays. I always saved the icing for last. I still do that to cupcakes – eat the cake part first to have the icing as the ‘prize’.

    I’m so glad I found this site. I like to see what’s being made now – it’s important!
