i’m jealous of… well, me!

david_sedaris

Last  night was a pretty exciting evening for The Jealous Curator. I finally got to meet David Sedaris, my favourite writer ever! Not only did I get to say hello, and have a copy of When You Are Engulfed in Flames signed, I also got to put my Hanging with David Sedaris pitch directly into his hands. At this stage, I don’t even care if he says yes, I was just so thrilled to talk to him about it in person… Ok, who am I kidding, I really want him to say yes! Well, regardless of what happens next, his readings were hilarious, and he was kind and gracious about my idea. Such a fun night!

{Thanks so much to my wing man for coming with me… you know who you are.}

    Hey! That’s great! Your original idea inspired me to actually read my first DS book: WYAEIF, and I loved it too. There was also a great segment he did on a podcast for This American Life: The Book that Changed Your Life episode. He spoke about a dirty magazine he found as a child and how is subsequently passed through various hands, shaping childhood ideas about sexuality – FUNNY!

    Hope he gets back to you!

    Oh I’m so glad you read your first one! Isn’t he amazing? You have to get a few of his books on CD as well. He reads them like no one else can!

    I’m keeping my fingers crossed for your pitch – LOVE this website … very jealous and very inspired. I love simple ideas that take on a life of their own.

    Thanks Charlotta! Alas, David Sedaris said no. I still think it’s a cool idea. I have a few writer friends working on some great novels, so perhaps this is how they’ll launch their books… they better not say no to me!
