My name is Danielle Krysa, and in 2009 I started The Jealous Curator as a personal blog, meant to help me find my way back to art after a two-decade-long post-art-school creative block. And while I am no longer jealous, back then I truly was. I was jealous of everyone who was showing their work, who sold their work, who had a studio, and most of all, I was jealous of anyone who was simply making art - because I wasn’t doing any of those things. I started writing, featuring a new artist each day, and sharing what I loved about their work. Within a month, I felt the heaviness start to lift. The jealousy had turned into ’get my ass back in the studio’ inspiration ... and I never looked back.
WHAT I DO
I still write about contemporary artists every day, but now I do it on Instagram and in my daily Substack. I’ve also written eight books on creativity, inner critics, and of course, more artists. I have been honored to speak on all of these topics at universities, museusms, conferences, and companies - from Pratt to Pixar. I’ve given two TEDx talks, and was featured on Oprah.com in a series of videos about breaking through creative blocks.
In the past few years I’ve been traveling to art fairs all over the world, and then sharing my findings with my ever growing, art-loving community. I’ve worked with brands like Samsung, Audemars Piguet, and Saatchi Art, and collaborated with collectors who want to bring more art into their world. After almost two decades of being ‘The Jealous Curator’, I am very proud to say I have a visual inventory of thousands of artworks in my head at all times, so please reach out if you’d like to collaborate.
WHERE I DO IT
