anna jensen
I think I had this dream once… yep, one too many purple macarons before bed, and this could very well be the result! These crazy, narrative, over-the-top paintings are by American artist Anna Jensen. What makes them even more crazy n’ narrative? Their titles:
1. Why Are My Rehab Costs On MY Credit Report?!
2. Finally I’m A Functional Alcoholic
3. I’m So Vain I Probably Think This Painting Is About Me
4. Young Saint, Old Devil
5. A Foreboding Shadow Befell Her So She Drowned Her Future Sorrows
6. Bunny Byrne, Macaron Baker Extraordinaire
7. Physically Impossible Entry, Hysterical Marker
8. I Found A Hair In My Pie In The Sky
9. The Bait Hides The Hook
See? The plot thickens!
Really like Jensen’s style. Absolutely love the titles! Great job on the black bar, by the way.
while these paintings are intriguing on their own, you’re right in that the titles just send them over the top! which i love, as i’ve also been disappointed in how unimaginative artists usually are: ‘oh look, untitled 3. how inspiring!’. maybe it’s just because i love naming things but i have always felt that a lot of artists are missing the mark in furthering their works with titles.
me too! it’s just adds that extra bit of richness, and lets you into the artist’s mind that much more!
i adore anna’s work. she’s got just the right bite, loads of color and in your face rebellion.
I love your work ! greetings from MARK, Mexico/Canada/Germany. All the best to you !
Hello I’m a curator at the Nouvel Organon Gallery in Paris, France; I’m contacting you because I am interested in showing your work. Feel free to take a look at the gallery website and let me know if you would be interested in my proposal.
Kind regards,

Thank you so much for the positive comments about my paintings. It was a lot of fun being included on the Jealous Curator. Dimitri Yin, I would love to talk to you about exhibiting at Nouvel Organon. Paris is somewhere I feel quite at home and at peace. And I’ve been told that my work would be received well there. It would be wonderful to have a show with you! I will email the gallery. Thanks again, Danielle!
